Intestinal Helminth Parasitic Infections among School-Aged Children in Dunukofia, Anambra State, South-Eastern Nigeria

Abstract : The study on intestinal helminth infection was carried out among school-aged children in Umunnachi, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State between July and August, 2014. One hundred and twenty (120) stool samples were examined using the direct feacal smear method and formal ether concentration techniques. Out of 44 females and 76 males examined, 15 (31.4%) and 20 (26.3%) were respectively infected with helminth parasites (P>0.05). Generally, the 9-11 years age-groups 3-5 and 6-had the highest prevalence of infection of 40% while age-groups 3-5 and 6-8 years had 26.7% and 27.5% respectively.
